🕶️ Weekly Brief · Team Standup

Mid-week, seven creators.
Sunday, a meme found us
on its own.

Monday edition. Reviews Mon Oct 12 → Sun Oct 18 (7 UTC days) against Oct 5 – 11. Solana volume $5.06M vs $4.97M (+2%); $4.69M from ordinary wallets, flat to the dollar. The shape is the story: Mon–Fri sat at $320–540K a day with 8 and 7 launching creators on Wed and Thu — the lowest creator days on record — then Sunday 20:00 UTC a "French Goku Hero" meme hit Solana and three near-identical launches went up on Bags within 30 minutes (EZECK $157K / 1,407 makers, PIERRE ×2 $97K). Sunday: $1.75M, 5,228 traders, 53 creators — the tease day's trader count, with nobody from Bags posting anything. Platform take $18.9K / 181 SOL (−13%), DefiLlama revenue $19.5K (−15%), creator claims $25.1K to 92 creators (−30%). Take rate slipped to 0.37%. Launches 905 (−59%) because our engines stayed off; 24 farm wallets still made 63% of them. $BAGSPAY was $1.0M of buy-side for the fifth week — and a floor session of ours traded it Thu–Fri. Eng shipped 235 human commits (+10%), 176 of them alaa's trading-terminal attribution (a 39K-line PR and a 225K-line decoder refresh, 122 commits on Sunday); Ramy and Finn hardened BagsPay claims, added domain fee-sharing, and feature-flagged BagsPay off on web. Robinhood: 11.11 ETH ≈ $26.7K for the week (+57%), 0 launches, vault 0.0 ETH. X data: none. Credits have been depleted since Oct 8; every route 402s.

01 · Meeting runsheet — KPI-first standing format

Traders show up when there's a meme. Builders don't show up at all. The receipt is now twelve days late.

Operating frame: Bags runs as a KPI-focused firm aimed at capturing trading volume through mobile and terminal products. The stats come prefilled; the meeting discusses why. This week's why: demand arrived without us and supply left without us. Sunday proved Bags is still a default venue for a fast meme (three copies in 30 minutes, 5K traders). Wednesday proved the creator funnel is dry (8 people launched a coin). Neither was a decision anyone made.

Company overview — 5 min

Key stats: Solana $5.06M (+2%), 12.8K traders (+2%), 75.7K trades (−9%), 905 launches (−59%) from 167 creators (−28%). Creator claims $25.1K / 92 claimers (−30%). Platform take $18.9K / 181 SOL (−13%) = public revenue $19.5K on DefiLlama (−15%), reconciled within 3%. Take rate 0.37% (from 0.44%) — the Sunday meme traded mostly on DAMM pools at the lower fee tier. Robinhood 11.11 ETH ≈ $26.7K (+57%), 0 launches; vault 0.0 ETH. SOL $104.6 (−3%). Eng: 235 human commits (+10%), 30 PRs merged (21 human), Linear closed 9. Headline: a flat week with a hollow middle and an organic Sunday — the market is fine with us; the builders aren't.

Launchpads — the cash-cow business

Solana by day (excl. high-frequency wallets): $493K → $353K → $428K → $288K → $457K → $1.04M → $1.63M. Daily traders 2.3K → 2.0K → 2.1K → 1.7K → 2.4K → 2.6K → 5.2K. $BAGSPAY was $1.00M of buy-side (11K trades, 2,612 makers), identical to last week — but a floor session of ours (session-H8WTvo3Z, 212 wallets) traded it from Thu evening for 18+ hours, so Thu–Sat's $BAGSPAY is partly us; Sunday's spike is not (the floor was paused). Sunday 20:00–23:59 UTC did ~$1.6M on one meme: EZECK (20:41, $157K / 4,055 trades / 1,407 makers), PIERRE (20:36, $70K / 475), PIERRE #2 (21:06, $27K / 384), STANKS (23:42). Old coins revived: LORIA (Aug 2025) $225K, VERDIS $41K, SAN $66K. Coins launched this week did $674K (13%) across 758 mints. Launches: 24 farm wallets made 566 of 905 (63%); Fri/Sat 317/263 were the stockbond fleet + SpaceX-quoted lane (100 + 49 stock pairs; RDSTR wound down Fri for +38.7 SOL). Organic: 143 creators (−19%) launched 339 coins (−33%). Wed 8 / Thu 7 creators. Sunday 53 — the meme pulled builders too, for an afternoon.

Robinhood: 11.11 ETH ≈ $26.7K over Oct 12–18 vs 7.07 ETH / $17.7K for Oct 5–11 (+57%), 0 launches vs 2. By day: 0.31 → 1.10 → 0.57 → 0.25 → 0.06 → 0.16 → 8.66 ETH. Curve 8.57 / pool 2.54 ETH, 78 buys / 110 sells / 107 pool swaps. Fees (2%) ≈ 0.222 ETH ≈ $533, protocol half ≈ $267. All-time launches 4,757. Vault 0.0 ETH. Mon–Sat was ~0.4 ETH/day of pool swaps; Sunday did 8.66 ETH of curve-phase trading on existing coins (58 buys / 66 sells) with zero launches — the same Sunday Solana spiked. Still no new coins on RH for three weeks.

One organic meme = the same trader count as the CEO's tease. The venue works. The funnel into it is empty mid-week.

Trading products — Mobile & Terminal

BagsPay got harder and quieter. Ramy merged large-partner claim batching (#1381 backend, #562 web, dev-portal #8), domain fee-sharing via a site's bags@ email (#1374/#558), stalled-launch resume (#1371/#557, closing BAGS-487), and #555 "BagsPay + new fee-share methods" merged as WIP (+13K). Then a feature-flag commit: "feat: disable bagspay" on web; Finn's follow-up docs say the launch payout flag now only gates the X Money tab. Finn is back in twitter-claim (11 commits): recent payments on /pay, BagsPay second in the fee-share rail (Cash App and Venmo dropped), domain-first fee sharing on the launch form (#559/#563), and #560 ranked home feed + app-store grid + x-style nav (+7K, open). Mobile woke up today: dan opened bagsapp #695 single-screen launch form with domain fee sharing (+16.9K) and #694 deep-link hardening, plus Apple sign-in on web (#564/#1384). In flight: #1372 x-bot command worker, now +31K (updated Sun) and #561 x-bot settings + campaign page. Terminal-side: alaa's attribution work is measurement of terminals (which terminal routed which trade), not a terminal. Relay: third week cold.

The product named in our #1 token was switched off behind a flag the same week. Either that's temporary and dated, or the ticker is trading a ghost.
4

Infrastructure — Data + security

Trading-terminal attribution landed. alaa shipped a trade_terminal_attribution ClickHouse table keyed by transaction under a rule version (#180, +39K): Photon/Axiom/Jupiter/DFlow/GMGN fee rules (v2–v5), keeper and bot flow kinds, a sealed terminal_kpi_1d daily rollup, a verify mode and a six-month backfill runbook — then a 225K-line October decoder refresh (#178) and CI gates (fmt, clippy, worktree smoke). 122 commits on Sunday. We can now say which terminal every Solana trade came through. Abuse controls: signups capped at 3/IP/day (#1375), admin ban for pre-generated users (#1373, CarloBags), TikTok username validation and Apple token audience checks (#1378, dan; BAGS-474 closed). Bot fleet: sadj activated four fee bots in production GitOps (BAGS-373 closed), prepared Gacha and Mindshare, DexScreener monitors, bound GitHub OIDC to repo IDs. RH index coins: Ramy's #1 — per-token failure isolation, pinned-block holder snapshots, retries that back off over days. Ops: fbmini ran the BAGSPAY floor and the RDSTR winddown; a wallet-file overwrite bug surfaced during consolidation (saveWalletToFile must open with 'wx'). Audit: nikola opened 4 more rpc-cache items (BAGS-498…501), closed 3 Cantina. X API: still 402.

Adhoc + closing

Three items. (1) The receipt, or the retraction. The Oct 7 tease is twelve days old. This week the web flag for BagsPay went to off. The community's $BAGSPAY coin still did $1.0M. Decide which post goes out: the receipt (numbers, SOL, global) or a dated "BagsPay web is paused while X Money geo rules settle; SOL payouts continue" — silence is the only wrong answer now. (2) Mid-week creators. 8 and 7 creators a day is a funnel problem, not a weekend. The HATON claim is still open in the grievance thread; pay it, post "all hackathon claims live", then put a small fee-rebate in front of returning hackathon creators. (3) Canonical launch for meme events. Sunday split ~$1.6M across three identical launches inside 30 minutes. A "first" badge and a 15-minute duplicate name/symbol guard on the feed would have concentrated that into one runner. Build is a week. Close with named owners.

02 · Shipped this week — what got done (GitHub, Oct 12 → Oct 18)

Terminal attribution, BagsPay hardening, abuse controls. One person wrote three-quarters of it, on a Tuesday and a Sunday.

Five humans committed: alaabags 176, ramyodev 32, sadjbags 12, finnbags 11 (back from 0), danbagsfm 4. Two days carried the week — Tue 84 and Sun 130 — with Wed/Thu/Sat at 3, 5 and 0. unbound-bags and nilsbags: zero commits.

03 · In progress — the big rocks in flight (34 open PRs)

Mobile is back with the launch-form rewrite. The x-bot worker grew to 31K. Relay: week three, cold.

Open PRs went 39 → 34; the queue cleared because #555 merged as WIP and nine renovate PRs closed. Two new big rocks opened this morning from dan: bagsapp #695 single-screen launch form with domain fee sharing (+16.9K) and #694 deep-link / upload / launch-socials hardening. backend #1372 x-bot command worker grew from +24.7K to +31.3K without merging. Finn's #560 ranked home feed (+7K) is the first home-page change since the launch-form sprint.

PR hygiene flag

#555 merged labelled [WIP] at +13K, and #1372 grew 27% in review instead of shrinking. That's the BagsPay queue being cleared by merging, not by reviewing — the same week the web flag went to off. Sequence this week: #1372 gets unbound-bags or alaa as reviewer and a scope freeze → #695 (mobile launch form) → #560 (home feed). Relay gets closed if nobody can name a merge week; three cold +8–23K PRs are review debt, not a roadmap.

Standup notes
  • 📅 Busiest day: Sun Oct 18 with 130 commits (122 alaa) — second Sunday in a row the week landed on a weekend. Tue 84, Fri 10, Mon 6, Thu 5, Wed 3, Sat 0.

  • 🚌 Bus factor: 5 humans (5 last week). alaabags + ramyodev = 89% (83% last week). Ramy owns BagsPay backend, web, x-bot, dev-portal and RH index coins. finnbags 11 commits, all twitter-claim UI.
  • 🧟 Oldest zombie: bagsapp #602 (Jul 2025). Oldest Linear in progress: BM-1/2/3/5 videos, Jul 27 — 12 weeks.
Standup talking point — Linear closed 9, created 5; 44 of 58 in-progress issues are stale

9 closes: BAGS-487 launch resume, BAGS-483/479/474 Cantina (nikola), BAGS-459 AI chat on analytics + BAGS-267 support discovery (nils), BAGS-373 fee-share bots migration (sadj), SUPPORT-38/33 (ramyo). 5 created: 4 rpc-cache audit (nikola) + 1 support. 44 of 58 "started" issues haven't moved in 14+ days (44/55 last week). BAGS backlog 117 (14 High, 0 Urgent). No Linear issue exists for terminal attribution (40K lines), the x-bot worker, domain fee sharing, the mobile launch-form rewrite, or switching BagsPay off on web. The stock-pair cluster (BAGS-434/436/426/412, High) is five weeks untouched; the lane launched 166 pairs this week anyway. BAGS-492 (DefiLlama EVM tracking, closed Oct 8) is still unverified — the North Star is still Solana-only.

05 · Metrics — the market read (ClickHouse + RH scan + DefiLlama)

Flat week, $5.06M. A hollow middle, then $1.63M of ordinary-wallet volume on a Sunday nobody planned.

Solana did $5.06M vs $4.97M (+2%). Excluding high-frequency wallets, $4.69M vs $4.69M — flat to $4K. But the two weeks have opposite shapes: last week spiked Wednesday on Finn's post and decayed; this week sat at $290–490K Mon–Fri and spiked Sat–Sun on a meme Bags didn't make. Mon–Tue ordinary-wallet volume, the habit test from two decks ago: $493K and $353K — still a third of the $1M bar. Robinhood: 11.11 ETH ≈ $26.7K (+57%), 0 launches.

📈 Sunday, measured — a meme without a tease

Hourly UTC on Sunday Oct 18: 16:00 $84K (350 traders) → 19:00 $24K → 20:00 $407K / 1,887 traders → 21:00 $452K → 22:00 $69K → 23:00 $481K → Mon 00:00 $181K. The trigger was off-platform (a "French Goku Hero" meme); the response on Bags was three launches in 30 minutes — PIERRE 20:36, EZECK 20:41, PIERRE 21:06 — plus STANKS at 23:42. EZECK won: $157K / 4,055 trades / 1,407 makers, the most makers on a new coin since $BAGSPAY's launch week. Nobody official posted. 5,228 traders came anyway — the same count as the Oct 7 tease day. The venue is still a default. What it lacks is a way to make the winner canonical before the copies split it.

Organic for the week: 143 creators (−19%), 339 coins (−33%). A funnel that produces seven creators on a Thursday isn't waiting for a feature. 06 · X sentiment — no X data for the second week; API credits depleted since Oct 8

We can't hear the room. We can see it: 5,228 wallets showed up Sunday without being asked, and 7 builders showed up Thursday.

⚠︎ Degraded source — second consecutive blank week

x-research returns 402 "credits depleted" on all four queries; the kimi web-search provider rejects freshness filters and returns ungrounded; X syndication 429s; xcancel is suspended. Zero tweets read Oct 8–19. Everything below is on-chain behaviour used as a proxy, plus what the Oct 7 sweep left open. The fix is a top-up at console.x.com (Finn). Until then this slide can't say what anyone said, only what they did.

▲ Bull signals (behavioural)
  • Organic meme capture: three "French Goku Hero" launches on Bags inside 30 minutes of the meme breaking; EZECK pulled 1,407 makers. The venue still gets picked first by fast launchers.
  • Sunday trader count matched the tease day (5,228 vs 5,223) with zero official posts. Attention arrived on its own.
  • $BAGSPAY held $1.0M for a fifth week and BAGSPAYBOT $119K — the community is still pricing the product. (Caveat: our floor was in it Thu–Sat.)
  • Old coins revive: LORIA (Aug 2025) $225K / 440 makers, VERDIS $41K, SAN $66K — Bags-launched coins have a long tail.
  • Creator claims still flowing: $25.1K to 92 creators; Sunday $6.7K to 33 — the meme paid its creators the same day.
▼ Bear signals (behavioural + carried)
  • 8 and 7 launching creators on Wed/Thu — lowest on record. The hackathon cohort isn't launching here mid-week.
  • The receipt is 12 days late and the web flag went to off. Whatever the replies say, the chain shows no payout wave (claims −30%).
  • Copycat split: the meme's ~$1.6M fragmented across three identical launches; the winner took 60%. No canonical-launch signal exists on the feed.
  • Take rate fell to 0.37% — the organic volume came through the cheaper pool tier. More volume, less revenue per dollar.
  • Carried from Oct 7, still unanswered publicly: "RIP everywhere except US" (XMoney geo), HATON / hackathon grievance in Finn's replies, Ansem-style CA pressure, three coins using the BagsPay name.

Net read: the market is still here — it came back on a Sunday for a meme with no help from us — and the builders are not. Two blind weeks means every "what are people saying" question in this deck is answered with a trade table. That's a $100 fix at console.x.com; everything else here costs more.

07 · This week's agenda

Say what BagsPay is this week. Pay the tab, then court the creators back. Make the first launch canonical. Freeze #1372. Top up X.

1

Receipt or retraction — one dated BagsPay post this week, in SOL, global

Twelve days since the tease. This week the web rail got a feature flag and it's off; the code says the payout flag now only gates the X Money tab. The community coin still did $1.0M. Two honest posts exist: the receipt — fees routed to creators ($25.1K to 92 creators this week, $36K / 121 last week, $144K the week before), first tx, cadence, "in SOL, anywhere on earth; X Money is the US card" — or the dated pause — "BagsPay on web is paused while X Money geo rules settle; SOL payouts continue; back on [date]". Either beats the third option, which is what we've done for twelve days. Owner: Finn (post), Ramy (tx + flag date).

Silence is the only wrong post. The tease already proved the right one is worth $2M.

Pay the HATON claim, post "all hackathon claims live", then a two-week launch-back rebate

Carried from Oct 7 and Oct 12, now with a number: 7 and 8 creators on Wed/Thu. That's trust, not tooling — the launch form got domain fee-sharing and recent-payments this week and nobody came. Sequence matters: (1) pay the outstanding hackathon claim, (2) one @BagsApp line "all hackathon claims are live", (3) then a small fee rebate or boosted split for returning hackathon creators for two weeks, announced to them directly. Target: organic creators back above 177 (two weeks ago) and claims back above $35K. Owner: ops (stu) + Finn sign-off; Ramy for the rebate flag.

A bounty before the debt is paid reads as a bribe. Order is the whole plan.

Canonical launch for meme events — "first" badge + 15-minute duplicate guard on the feed

Sunday split ~$1.6M across three near-identical launches inside 30 minutes; the winner got 60%, the copies got the rest and the half-life. A feed rule — first launch of a name/symbol within N minutes gets a FIRST tag, later duplicates show "copy of …" — concentrates the next event into one runner that goes bigger and lasts longer. It's not an endorsement (badge says first, never best), so it doesn't trip the CA-endorsement trap. Finn's #560 ranked home feed is the surface for it. Build ≈ 1 week on twitter-claim + a launchpad_launch lookup. Owner: Finn (feed) + Ramy (API).

The venue already wins the meme. The feed just needs to pick a winner before the market splits it.

Freeze #1372's scope and give it a second reviewer; close Relay

The x-bot worker went +24.7K → +31.3K in review; #555 merged labelled WIP at +13K. That's the BagsPay queue being cleared by merging, not by review — with Ramy at 89% bus factor alongside alaa. This week: scope freeze on #1372, unbound-bags or alaa reviews it, then dan's #695 mobile launch form (+16.9K), then #560. Relay (#541/#1340/#690, +36K) has had no activity for three weeks and no Linear issue; close the PRs or name a merge week. "Hold" was the decision two decks ago; neglect is what happened.
